Salatiga is a small city in Central Java. It is famous for its university, Universitas Satya Wacana. In September 2001, I had a chance to visit Salatiga. Last time I visited this city was more than 15 years ago. The weather in Salatiga is cool, not hot. Food You can find various food at very reasonable price (read: cheap!). Interesting food include: Bakso Babat: meat ball and "babat" (part of cow's stomach) Enting-enting gepuk: snack, sweet, made of peanuts Jenang: soft and sweet snack Wedang ronde: hot drink with ginger, real good at night to warm you up Hotels Last time I went to Salatiga, I stayed at Hotel Beringin. It's a very good and clean hotel, right in the middle of the city. I didn't have a chance to explore other hotels.
