Dear reader,
For a long time I am searching for my 'Biological Father' and I sincerely
hope that this message and request will help me to find my family. I was
born at December 13th, 1945 in Buitenzorg (Bogor). My mother was Dutch. In
January 1946 we left by vessel and we arrived six weeks later or so in Holland.
My mother died in 1991 but she never wanted to talk about the war or what
happened in March 1945. The only thing she ever mentioned is the fact that
she had a short relationship with the police commissioner or the head of
police (anyway a police officer) in Tsjibadak (Cibadak) in March 1945. This
person has to be my father!! Another information she gave me is that he died
long time ago. Since there is no one left here who can tell me what happened
during that time, so I have to investigate this all by myself. In 1993 I
visited for the first time Indonesia. Of course, I went to Bogor and to the
Red Cross Hospital over there, since I know that I am born in a hospital.
I talked to Kolonel Purn. dr. H. Amir Ismail (Direktor RSU-PMI Bogor) and
Dr. H. Soewarna Adimihardja (Spesialis T.H.T.) but they couldn't help me
although they were very willing to do so. The hospitals don't keep the files
that long. Besides that, as far as I know it must have been a military hospital
where I was born and that one doesn't exist anymore in Bogor. I also talked
with Mrs. Dra. Joslinah Kepala from 'Kantor Catatan Sipil' in Bogor but they
couldn't find the files and she didn't know if everything was registered
during that time. Also the 'Arsip Nasional' in Jakarta was not able to give
me any clue. During the search I met a lovely lady: auntie Molly. I have
visited her many times and we wrote each other many letters. She passed away
last year. May she rest in peace. Her fullname was Nj. Irsan - Soerianatanegara.
Her husband - so Mr. Irsan - was also a police officer, but he died a long
time ago. She had a picture from her wedding party in 1938 or 1939 with many
police officers on it. There is a possibility even my father is on that picture.
I don't speak Bahasa, so during my investigations I had a language problem.
But al the people I have met were very friendly and very helpful. So, the
main question is: Which police officers were based in Tsjibadak in March
1945? This mail is a shot in the dark but I am hoping anyone can spend some
of his or her spare time to help me with my search. Maybe you know people
from the police academy or other people who are familiar with the police
force. Maybe the files from 1945 are still somewhere. As far as I know Cibadak
was administratively a part of the district of Sukabumi and/or Bandung. The
only fact I like to discover are my roots. It is very frustrating to realize
you have family somewhere but you don't know who they are. But I also realize
that it can be a shock for the persons still alive if they are suddenly
confronted with the existence of a kind of a family member.
Thank you very much by spending some of your valuable time by reading this
mail and be convinced of my appreciation.
Yours sincerely,
Christiaan E.K. van Es
